UNITY FOR AUTISM GRANT EXAMPLES

Our mission is to fund initiatives to excellent service providers for autism that make a direct and profound impact on the development of an individual with autism, and the heroes that support them, without a financial barrier to the families should the request be approved. Providing grants for a service or program that families are on a wait list to access for their child or do not have the financial ability to access is of interest to the foundation. The following are some specific examples of requests that have been approved for funding in the past:

To provide full subsidies to 10 children/youths with autism to attend overnight summer camp.

To provide a social skill training group for children whom are severely impaired by autism.

To afford adults with autism the opportunity to go supported to Disney World for the very first time and other summer vacation excursions.

To provide specialized software, adaptive furniture, and sensory equipment for a group home for individuals with autism.

To build a Snoezelen Room for students with autism and to offer the room to other children with autism in their community after school.

To hire a weaving instructor to teach adults with autism to create merchandise that they may sell to stores.

To provide a Labrador that is specifically trained to enhance the safety and well being for a child with autism.

To provide subsidies to attend a specialized school for students with autism and Asperger Syndrome.

To create a sensory based, therapeutic horse back riding program for individuals with autism.

To subsidize an intensive ABA program for families who are not eligible or funded by the government.

To create a computer lab and offer the "Fast Forward" program, a specialized software program to enhance the language development and improve communication skills for individuals with autism.

"Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking our potential."
