UNITY FOR AUTISM
GRANT RECIPIENTS

Our signature fundraising event, a first class golf tournament held in September of each year, raises substantial funds to support many excellent service providers that make a direct and profound difference in the lives of individuals affected by autism. The monies from that event combined with donations received throughout the year supports many wonderful organizations across Canada for very specific programs.

Congratulations to the organizations above for their innovative proposal that will make a profound difference and immediate impact on the lives of many individuals with autism and their families! The acknowledgement of the grant recipient is not an acceptance of the amount requested by the organization.

Unity for Autism would like to thank all applicants and encourage those who were not selected to reapply next year.  Please see NEW GRANTING PROCEDURE AND DEADLINES, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2012. Please note that the foundation will not consider previous recipients who did not submit the requested follow up report after the donation was given, or whose Letter of Intent or Application Form arrived after the deadline.

Each year Unity for Autism will select different recipients dedicated to making a direct and profound difference on an individual with autism and their families. The Directors of Unity for Autism are continuously visiting and assessing organizations serving this population to determine the ones that will meet this criteria.

 

 


 
NEW GRANTING PROCEDURE AS OF
JANUARY 1ST, 2012 

All organizations with a registered charitable number who are seeking financial assistance from Unity for Autism must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) and a budget for the request.

LOI’s will be accepted from January 15th until May 15th of each year.

LOI’s may be submitted via email to grants@unityforautism.ca or by mail to:  Unity for Autism, 550 Eglinton Ave. West, P.O.Box 38066, Toronto, Ontario   M5N 3A8. Upon 72 hours of receipt, Unity for Autism will acknowledge receipt to the organization.

Letter of Intent must be ONE PAGE ONLY

and contain the following information, in this order:

Registered Charitable Name and Number

Amount Requested

Detail Description of the Program and Duration, or Description of the Equipment

Number of Participants & Age Group

If you are requesting funding for an existing program, will the funding enable individuals with autism to access this program for the first time that have been waiting to access this service?

Contact Name, Position, Full Contact Information, Email & Website

ONE PAGE ADDENDUM to include projected Total Budget relating to this specific request only. Additional addendums and promotional materials will not be reviewed.  

By June 30th of each year, Unity for Autism will be contacting you indicating whether or not you have been invited to proceed to a full application.

If you are not contacted by June 30th, please email grants@unityforautism.ca to determine the status of your LOI.

 

IF YOUR LOI IS NOT ACCEPTED, YOU SHOULD NOT CONTINUE THE APPLICATION PROCESS.

Unity for Autism is not able to accept grant applications directly from individuals or families. While the Foundation is committed to supporting families, support must be made through registered charitable organizations that provide direct services, family support, essential life skills, education, and recreational activities.

FUNDING RESTRICTIONS:

The following requests will not be funded by Unity for Autism.

1. Support requested directly from individual families
2. Coverage of continuing operating deficits
3. Multi-year grants
4. Endowments
5. Capital Campaigns
6. Conferences or Workshops
7. Organizations outside of Canada

Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding. The Directors of Unity for Autism will not review any addendums or additional documentation that is in response to a question on the application form.

Unity for Autism seeks to fund requests that enhances the development and well-being of individuals with autism, and support to their families, with a preference to alleviating the wait list for a program or providing unique/once in a lifetime opportunities. With this in mind, requests that are cost efficient and will not provide a financial barrier to the families if the grant is given will be strongly considered. Non-related program and administrative costs will not be supported.
